Case 7: Free Gingival Graft
This young patient complained about difficulties in brushing on the lower front teeth. She had noticed increasing gum recession. The missing tooth had been replaced with a removable parietal denture (plate), which she found uncomfortable. She presented with thin gum tissue around the lower incisor teeth. A high frenum prevented proper oral hygiene.
After discussing with the patient the possible options, it was agreed to remove the frenum and thicken the gum tissues with a gum graft before providing her with a fixed bridge. The gum graft allowed for seamless integration of the bridge.
