Case 3: Periodontal Tissue Regeneration
This patient complained about the mobility of her upper right canine tooth.
The upper right canine tooth presented very inflamed gum tissue and deep gum pockets. The x-rays revealed advanced bone loss, which approximated the tip of the root (left picture). A localised periodontal surgery was performed under local anaesthetic. Guided Tissue Regeneration technique was applied. A demineralized bovine bone matrix graft was applied. The graft was protected with a collagen membrane. The results after seven months (right picture) show formation of new bone support around the canine tooth. The gum pockets have been resolved and the tissue now look healthy. The tooth is less mobile.
